The Epidemiology Research Unit in Inverness requires a Communications Officer to work on communications and knowledge exchange for EPIC, the Scottish Government-funded Centre of Expertise on Animal Disease Outbreaks. EPIC (www.epicscotland.org) is a virtual consortium involving around 40 scientists at six different Scottish institutions, which provides advice and analyses to Scottish Government to inform animal disease control. This role will contribute to EPIC’s knowledge exchange and communications strategy, aimed at a range of audiences including policy makers, livestock industry, scientific/academic, and general public.
In order to be considered, you should be educated to degree level in a related subject. You will be able to develop excellent written material for knowledge exchange via the website, press or other routes, including translation of science appropriate for different target audiences. You will be able to organise and coordinate relevant events. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to coordinate projects, determine priorities, set deadlines, and complete projects. You will be creative and interested in identifying new opportunities and innovative ideas for knowledge exchange.
The post will be appointed initially on a 2 year fixed term basis. Some travel within the UK may be required in this role and this may include overnight stays.
